ELMHURST—DuPage County Board Member Jeff Redick has filed nominating petitions with the DuPage County Election Commission to have his name appear on the February 2, 2010 ballot for re-election to his District 2 seat. Redick’s petitions include more than five times the required signatures to be placed on the ballot.
“As I walked door-to-door visiting with the people of District 2 I have been encouraged by the positive response I have received to the work that I have done on behalf of the people of DuPage County,” said Redick. “People have embraced my efforts to reform county government by implementing much needed transparency and forward thinking budget planning.”
Three years ago Redick handily defeated a twenty year incumbent for the District 2 DuPage County Board seat on a promise of providing the district with a new commitment to service and honorable public service. Since his election, Jeff Redick has been the leading voice for Transparency initiatives and authored the County’s Transparency and Accessibility Report which has provided the roadmap to make DuPage the most open county government in the State of Illinois. Many of the initiatives and changes that he has helped spearhead have drawn rave reviews from government watch-dog groups like the Citizen Advocacy Center and the Chicago-based Civic Federation.
“While I appreciate that we have accomplished a lot in a few short years, I recognize there is still more work to be done,” said Redick. “That is why I am seeking re-election.”
District 2 includes all, or parts of, Elmhurst, Villa Park, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Hinsdale, Westmont, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Lisle, Glen Ellyn and Woodridge. Redick’s petitions include signatures from registered voters in every one of those towns. “I like to think that serves as evidence of the district-wide support that I for the work that I have done so far, ” said Redick. .
